The Yeats Sociey of Korea (YSK)
          The YSK was established in  1991 at Hanyang University and has since had annual conferences and seminars.  The official journal The Yeats Journal of  Korea (YJK; Journal) has been published since 1991.

1. (Title) The name of this Society is the Yeats Society of Korea (Society).

2. (Aim) What the Society does is: 1) holding conferences and seminars; 2) collecting and distributing academic information; 3) publishing The Yeats Journal of Korea (Journal); 4) promoting and exchanging scholarly activities between scholars and students.

3. (Qualification of Society Member) The qualification of the membership and the application for being a member of the Society are as follows: 1) to be a regular member, one has to have a Ph.D. or M.A. degree or equivalent experiences or qualifications, who teaches or researches W. B. Yeats and his contemporary writers or who works in a publishing business; such an applicant has to be recommended by one of the current members and approved of in the general meeting; for a student to be a member, one has to be interested in Yeats and Modern literature who is on a Ph.D. or M.A. program in a graduate school, who has to be recommended by one’s advisor professor and approved of by more than two regular members; an organization or university library can be a member by following the same application procedure as in 1) above.

4. (Rights and Obligations) 1) A regular member has the right to vote and be voted; a student member does not have this right; 2) a regular member can participate in all Society activities; 3) a regular member must pay the membership fees; 4) a new member has to pay both the entrance fee and annual fee; 5) one who wants to be a lifetime member has to pay KRW 300,000 and be approved of by the Board of Directors; 6) All members should observe the ethics regulations of the Society (see the Research Ethics Guidelines below).

5. (Officers) The Society officers are as follows: one President, two Vice Presidents, two Auditors, a Board of Directors who perform such things as editing, planning, researching, public relations, gathering information, doing Society events, collecting and spending fees, grants, and contributions, and some None-duty Directors and Advisors.

6. (Term of Officers) 1) The term of Officers is two years; 2) during the term if an Officer has to resign, a new Officer is nominated by the President and approved of by a Board of Directors’ meeting, and the term of the new Officer is the remainder period of the term, but if the Officer who resigns is the President and his remainder term is less than 12 months, a new President is elected in a new general meeting; the term of the Editor in chief is six years, in view of the editing expertise, and the editing board members can be adjusted any time as required, to optimize the editing of the Journal.

7. (Election) 1) The President is recommended by the Board of Directors and Advisors and elected by the regular members in the general meeting; 2) the two Vice Presidents, the Board of directors, and some None-duty Directors are selected and appointed by the new President; 3) the two Auditors are elected in the general meeting; 4) the Advisors are recommended by the Board of Directors and appointed by the President.

8. (Duty) 1) The Advisors offer advice in response to the President and the Board of Directors and also give advice on the running of the Society, as necessary; 2) the President oversees all that is necessary to run the Society; 3) the Vice Presidents help the President, and the senior Vice President will do the President’s job if the President is unable to do so for some reason; 4) the Editor is in charge of publishing The Yeats Journal of Korea (Journal); 5) the Directors of Planning plan, organize, and perform academic activities, such as conferences, seminars, publishing; the Directors of Research perform research activities; the Directors of Relations are in charge of external relations with academic or other organizations; the Directors of Information run the Society and Journal websites; the Secretary General is in charge of official communication in and outside the Society; the Treasurer is in charge of keeping all Society accounts, including membership fees, revenues, grants, and spending; the Auditors will audit all accounts, as well as the managing of the overall business of the Society, and report to the general assembly; None-duty Directors offer advice on major issues of the Society and have the right to vote at the Board of Directors’ Meeting.

9. (Conferences and General Meetings) 1) More than two conferences and two seminars will be held a year; 2) the General Meeting will be held more than once a year, and an Irregular General Meeting can be convened by the President or the Acting President with the request of 1/3 of the Society membership; the President or the Acting President becomes the Chair of the General Meeting called.

10. (Function of the General Meeting) The General Meeting is to 1) amend the Society’s constitution; 2) elect the President; 3) elect the Audits; 4) approve of the Society’s annual budget; 5) the annual events; 6) decide on other important matters.

11. (Decisions) All decisions will be made in the General Meetings by a majority of the attending members.

12. (Records of the General Meetings) All the decisions made in the General Meetings are recorded and the records to be kept as permanent papers with the signatures of the President and the Secretary General.

13. (Budget) The budget consists of membership fees, grants and contributions, the incomes of the Society’s projects.

14. (Amendment of the Constitution) The Constitution can be amended by the motion of 2/3 of the Society Officers or 1/3 of the Society’s total membership.

15. (Attachment) The Constitution takes effect from 23 May 2003.
